Time for Purdey’s PAWS Awards 2015!

Purdey 1 CropThe world’s media are gathering, the red carpet is being rolled out, my kitchen staff are putting the final touches to the duck profiteroles – it’s time for Purdey’s Awards for Worldwide Stardom!

In a tradition which stretches back over four years, the coveted golden fir cone is presented to the finest actress of the past 12 months (which is usually myself).

Unfortunately, this year I seem to have some rather unhealthy competition in the shape of my long-standing rivals, I mean friends, Angel and Ponyo.   Because, while I have been busy pushing the accepted boundaries of whiskery histrionic catdom, Pon and Angel have been doing absolutely NOTHING, while somehow managing to evoke the theatrical presence of Benedict Cumberbatch.  It’s all WRONG.

However, with my usual kind-hearted openness and generosity I have no wish to influence your decision in any way.   I would just like to point out that I am in charge of the cheese shrew-flés.

Here are the entries for my PAWS Awards 2015:

    Hi Purdey,
You won by a whisker madam! The Godfather was snapping at your tail this year. Your director will have to come up with a strong role for you next year if you don’t want to forfeit the red carpet to these other feline femmes. Well Einstein isn’t a femme ,or is he? Maybe that’s why he spends all day staring at his reflection in the patio door.

    • Jo Woolf

Purdey is very grateful that you recognised her outstanding talent, Padraig. Angel and Ponyo are both method actors and they certainly had some very good roles this year. As for Einstein, he is unsure about everything, and I’m wondering if The Bourne Identity might be too much of a challenge for him next year. Sadly I fear the answer might be yes. 🙂

I voted for Gravity. I love the action shot and the amazing ability Purdey has as an athlete. But oh it was difficult. I also love the Poseidon adventure because cats do the most staggering ability to stare at something in unusual places that defy our/my understanding.
As for Miss Congeniality – she was a strong contender!
All three cats deserve a big treat on the red carpet!!!

Thank you, Lyn, Purdey appreciates your support! Her athletic ability is matched only by her nosiness. When we open the loft door we have to keep an eye on her because she’s quite capable of transporting herself up there (and then we’d have a job to get her back!) I am glad you liked the nominations! Thank you for voting, and they will certainly be getting lots of treats! 🙂

Jazz used to get up into a space between the upper storey floor and the ceiling of the ground floor via the garage when we were mucking about in there. We humans had no idea where he went in the space but mercifully he always came out!
His brother PG would get up on top of the refrigerator and then up behind some custom built cupboards…..luckily he also could get out under his own steam.
No wonder I am grey haired !!!
I’ll look forward to the BIG day and decide which designer frock to wear….lol

      • Jo Woolf

Little rascal! We’d never have been able to keep Purdey out of there either. As a kitten she used to get behind the floor units in the kitchen, squeezing over the kickboards where there is a tiny gap. Then we had to get all the boards off to get her out! Ah yes, which designer?! Top tip: Purdey says fur is big news this year.

Thankfully we did not need to remodel the kitchen or the garage in order to rescue the cats.
I might look out something from Annah Stretton – she can drape the more mature female form quite nicely….I thought Purdey would favour fur but February here can be the hottest month!
